Structurally this building is of posts and beams and it's walls are infill panels of straw-bales. Many traditional building techniques that use earth in the walls (adobe, cob, light-earth method and straw bale) reap distinct benefits in employing a post and beam frame. This allows the roof to go on earlier in the process and hence minimises the risks of damage or delays caused by rain .Although this Russian building party aren't looking too jubilant many hands do make light work and the cost of materials on this project is unlikely to break the bank. |

The raising of a tall "bent"as part of this
American Frame-Raising. Under close supervision there are friends and
family of the home owners and timber-framing students and enthusiasts
who gather to create and share in the spectacle of an impressive sized
house taking shape very quickly.Pike poles are being used to extend
the range of those helping hands. Ropes will help to steady it and secure
it at the point it becomes vertical.
